Like Father, Like Son
Morris Welding Service of Lowell, Arkansas works primarily in heavy equipment repair with a considerable amount of their work done in the field. Practicality as well as efficient use of space were imperative when designing their mobile shop. Joe Bill Morris II first came to Douglass back in 2000 to design and build their first body with those goals in mind. When Morris needed another rig for his son Joe III this past fall, there was no hesitation to chose Douglass Truck Bodies.
“We came back to Douglass because of their workman ship and quality of work they produce,” said Joe II. Some modifications have been done to the original design to accommodate Joe III’s specific needs. Joe III spends a lot of time on the road traveling mostly between Oklahoma and Arkansas. When projects keep him away from the shop for extended periods of time, Joe III has the comforts of home in his fifth wheel he tows with the heavy duty folding ball hitch installed in the cargo area. The rear compartments have been tapered inward to allow clearance when hauling the fifth wheel.
The passenger side front compartment is raised for increased storage capacity to accommodate larger oxygen and acetylene bottles. Heavy duty steel clamps are also added to ensure secure storage of the compressed gasses. Dividers featured in the flip-top boxes and custom mechanic drawers on 250 lb capacity ball-bearing roller slides allow for convenient specialized storage. The bumper has been shortened for accessibility and maximum use of the work platform.
What really sets this body from the rest
“We are pleased with our truck bed, it has fulfilled all of our needs and we continue to get compliments on our truck and how it is not only functional but looks great.” said Joe II “Basically we love Douglass Truck Bodies.” was the addition of the aluminum diamond plate. Overlays are installed on the compartment tops, back panels and work platform. He capped his bumper in aluminum diamond plate as well, improving his wear resistance and slip protection as he uses it as a step into his cargo area. The body protection package also included Arma Coat spray-on liner in the cargo area.
