Crane Body with Air & Arc 250 All-in-One Welder/Compressor/Generator

Featured at the 2013 World Ag Expo, this custom Douglass Crane Body includes and a Vanair Air & Arc 250 all-in-one welder/compressor/generator unit and a 3203PRX with the NexStar fully-proportional wireless control system. One is currently available in Bakersfield, mounted on a Dodge 5500.

The crane body was built 11′ long with a rear work platform that has a “V” formed directly into the ¼” plate. The body includes a tow package, three bays of mechanic drawers, lay-down storage for oxygen bottles, acetylene rings & clamps, and Equipto pull-out parts trays/

A Vanair Air N Arc 250 all-in-one welder/generator/air compressor is installed in the cargo area. . A remote mount control panel for the system is located in the second passenger side compartment, where the all the functions of the machine can be controlled right from the compartment, without having to climb into the bed. The compressor is powered by a 25HP fuel injected Kohler engine, boasting 24 cfm output and a max PSI of 175. A 30 gallon tank is stored under the machine. The DC CC/CV welder is rated at 250 Amps, with a generator that produces 5000 watts of continuous AC power. This particular unit was ordered with an accessory pack that included welding leads and a 25’ of 2ga battery boost/charger cables that allows you to jump start machinery directly from the welder. The air tank is plumbed to a 50′ hose reel in the passenger side rear compartment, accessible above the work platform.

The body is fitted with an Auto Crane 3203PRX-FM crane with power extension, and the NexStar fully proportional wireless control system.  A wireless FM controller allows for proportional control of loads.  Crane load management is closely monitored via the LCD diagnostics screen, status light and level sensors.  In the event of a malfunction or an unlevel situation, error messages are displayed to pinpoint the trouble spot.

The cargo area has mounting brackets to hold the spare tire, and four 6,000 lb capacity weld-in tie downs. The platform comes equipped with a Wilton 1755 Tradesman’s Series 5.5” Vise. The cargo area, compartment tops, work platform and back bumper are protected by Arma Coat spray on liner. A tapered cab protector is added to protect the rear window, and include a pair of 650 lumen LED work lights.
