Douglass Truck Bodies

Air Systems Part 2: Hydraulic Compressors

In a service body that already has a hydraulic pump, such as to power a hydraulic crane or aerial lift, Hydraulically Driven Air Compressors are a great option. Hydraulic air compressors offer a high cfm air solution tied directly to your underhood or PTO-driven hydraulic pump, eliminating the need for an additional compressor engine to maintain.

This entry is the second part in a four part series about the wide variety of compressors Douglass Truck Bodies offers our clients.

Vanair manufactures hydraulically driven rotary screw compressors out of Michigan City, Indiana. Three popular compressors we offer from Vanair are the RC40, the Viking High-Pressure, and the ADHD High-Pressure model compressors. The RC40 is capable of delivering 40 cfm at 100 psi, and can produce a maximum of 175 psi. The Viking High-Pressure Compressor can produce up to 60 cfm at 175psi.

ADHD

The High-Pressure Model ADHD Compressor delivers more air than any other hydraulic above-deck compressor in our line up, producing up to a whopping 185 cfm at 150 psi.

Also available at Douglass Truck Bodies is the VMAC Predatair line of hydraulic compressors. These 175 psi rotary screw compressors are available in both 40 cfm and 60 cfm configurations. Both VMAC compressor units utilize rotary screw compressors design to achieve the high flow and 100% duty cycle.

Hydraulic compressor systems are a complicated setup to design. If this is what you need, a member of the Douglass Truck Bodies sales team will be ready to walk you through your transmission requirements and PTO needs, spec out the right hydraulic pump to maximize oil flow with your transmission/PTO combination, and make sure your hydraulic reservoir is big enough to allow your hydraulic oil ample time to cool. We can also suggest cooling systems, if necessary. Give us a call today to start building your custom hydraulic compressor system.
