Optimizing a “Standard” Service Body
While we do a lot of special builds here at Douglass Truck Bodies, our foundation is still built on small businesses who need a service body for their pickup. Bumpers can be replaced by Work Platforms, with a ¼” steel deck. Available in flat and v-notch configurations, platforms add a large work space and additional storage to your bed. They can be built at many different lengths, and have the option of being built with either two underbody boxes or a long pass-through compartment for shovel and long-tool storage. This particular body also includes a tapered cab protector, upfitted with two LED flood lamps providing 600 lumens each for night work.
We also have solutions for your auxiliary fuel needs. On this body, the cargo area included a custom made 40 gallon wet tank that offers the flexibility of in the field fueling. The wet tank was protected by a secondary cargo area headboard, allowing the main cargo area to take all the abuse of the typical work day. The cargo area is secured by a Roll cover, an extruded aluminum retractable bed cover that keeps the entire cargo area safe from weather and theft.
Outfitting a service body with mechanic drawers is the perfect way to keep tools organized, easily accessible, and from unnecessary damage. This unit has six 250 lbs. capacity mechanic drawers mounted in the driverside and the curbside front compartments. The environment your service body operates in is rugged, therefore a body protection packages is a great way to protect your investment. Aluminum diamond plate is perfect for locations that take the most abuse, protecting the paint from scratches and chips. This body has aluminum rock guards at the front of the body to protect from road debris. Spray-on bed liner is also a great way to protect your high-traffic surfaces, and here is shown applied inside the cargo area, and on the tops of the flip-top lids, work platform, and bumper.
